Greetings! This summer, I challenge you to read (at least) four books! Once you have finished a book, write a summary (TAM--TITLE, AUTHOR, MAIN IDEA, and SOMEBODY, WANTED, BUT, SO, THEN). When summer comes to an end and if you've read at least four books, we'll meet for ice cream before you start fifth grade! Happy Reading!
Mrs. Pells :)

In the book "The Bridge Home" by Padma Venkatraman, two girls named Viji and Rukku ran away from their abusive father and took a bus to the city. There they found an old abandon bridge which is also the home of two boys named Arul and Muthi but they wanted to stay so the boys made them a shelter and allowed them to stay. But the only way the boys made money was climbing through a junkyard where they returned glass and rubber to a man and that man payed them enough to keep living. The first time Viji waked into the shed, the man said, "Hello there pretty girl" with a devil like smile so Viji left right away. So the junk asked where they lived and they responded on top of a bridge, bu in the middle of the night the junkman came to the bridge and took all their belongings. (I lost structure) Then they setup a new home in a grave yard and then went to church where they found a woman named Selina Aunty who said she gives homes to homeless children and school, (Viji's dream is to become a teacher). But Muthi convinced Viji not to go. But then Jiji's sister and Muthi fell ill and they went to Selina Aunty who took Rukku to the hospital straight away. There the doctor said she had a disease caused by mosquitos and a lot of people don't live. Later, a month before Christmas Rukku died and Viji was very sad and didn't talk much for many months straight but when Selina Aunty came and told her her grades were too good and she had to move on to a better school and she would have to leave the school and move on.

In the book "Out Of MY Mind" by Sharon Draper, Melody, a disabled girl who can't speak and has trouble moving has always wanted to talk. But, when she got a word machine she could "talk" and share her thoughts. So the went to a super kind neighbors house to study and practice for a national word contest and was the smartest in the group of 6th and 7th graders. So she went to all the practices and prepared for the big day thy were supposed to go to Washington D.C, then there was a big storm and no plaines could take off but the rest of the team left one hour earlier and didn't invite Melody to the breakfast so they went home and were sad, but at school they said they got 7th place, but when they gave Melody the trophy she shattered it.

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free.

This summer one of the books I read was Book 3 in the Trials of Apollo series, The Burning Maze, and was far over 250 pages so it counts as 2. The somebody wanted but so then in this book was that Apollo wanted to be able to be a god once again but as his punishment he is supposed to free the 5 oracles from 3 evil emperors. So, he heads to California to free the 3rd oracle. Then, he goes through many challenges and finally frees the oracle, along with another prophecy to the next oracle. That was the first/2 books I read this summer.

The second book I read was the entire series of The Shadow Children. Each book on average was about 200 pages long. The SWBST in the entire series was the shadow children wanted to be able to be like other people and live free but they live under a cruel government so they fight back and then eventually regain their rights. That was the second books I read.

I read a lot of other books this summer but I don't have to post them. My summer was pretty good, but we are building a new house, so we had a lot of work to do as well. We didn't go on vacation besides to my Grandma's for harvest. That was really fun. I got to see my closest cousin, Riley. I hope you guys had a great summer! See you in 5 days!

One of the books I read this summer was Ellie's Story by W.Bruce Cameron the main idea is about a police dog who works as a search and rescue. Ellie wanted to stay home and not be a police dog who searches for criminals but she is forced to so she has to train and go through guns and other violent things and then she survives it all and rescues lots of people.

One book I read this summer was Horrible Histories Incredible Incas by Terry Deary this is a non fiction book. It is mainly about the Inca tribe trying to win a war against the Spanish when they try to take the Inca's land. It has very nasty parts and hilarious and utterly weird things that they used to do. The Inca tribe mainly lived in Peru they were lead by and emperor/empress
