This week in reading, our focus is understanding various reading genres. Your assignment DUE FRIDAY, AUGUST 31st, is to identify the genre of the book you are reading at home and how you know.
1.) Write the title and author of your book. 2.) Identify the GENRE of the "just-right" book you're reading at home. 3.) Explain HOW you know the genre of your book. 4.) Provide one or two sentences sharing what your book is about. Example: The genre of the book, Because of Mr. Terupt, by Rob Buyea is realistic fiction. I know this because the story is made-up, but it could happen. Because of Mr. Terupt is about seven fifth grade students who experience their school year with a very special teacher. Though all very different, each character comes together after tragedy strikes.

Favorite Book Blog: DUE FRIDAY, AUGUST 24, 2018
Last week, we brought in our favorite books. For this week's blog, please... 1.) Share the title and author of your favorite book (or one of them). 2.) Explain WHY you enjoy this story so much. We will end up creating a list of book recommendations right here on this blog! To post, click "comments" in the upper right hand corner. Example: One of my favorite books is The Willoughbys by Lois Lowry. I enjoy this story for many reasons including the humor. For example, the parents in the Willoughbys try to get rid of their children, while the kids try to rid themselves of their parents. Dark humor, but entertaining nonetheless. I also appreciate the vocabulary. We learn words like "lugubrious" and "odious." I highly recommend this story for anyone who appreciates humor, strong word choice, and overall entertaining stories. Dear Fourth Grade Readers,
Welcome to our team reading log blog! By the end of each week, you will be responsible for posting a reading response on this blog about one of the books you are reading. Name your blog post with the title and author of your book. You get to choose the day you post, but it must be up by Friday. Happy Reading and Blogging! Love, Mrs. Pells and Mrs. Scofield |
