As you all know, we have been discussing the importance of "Reading Intensely." Remember "Reading Intensely" means that as the reader, you're not only understanding the text, but adding your own thinking as well.
Your assignment this week is to demonstrate how you're 'Reading Intensely' with your 'Just Right' book at home. This means you're documenting your thoughts (feel free to use 'thinking stems'--see below), questions, emotions, or connections as you read. Please be sure to include the title and author of your book as well as a specific example to support your thinking. IN SUMMARY: 1.) Include the title and author of your "just right" book 2.) Show how you're reading intensely by asking a question, sharing a feeling, making a connection, or adding any additional thoughts about your text (see the images below to help you get started). 3.) Include specific details and/or quotes to support your thinking. Example: The book, The Willoughbys, by Lois Lowry, teaches me about the idea of dark humor. At first glance, the storyline seems upsetting--parents trying to get rid of their kids, and kids who try to rid themselves of their parents. But, as I continue to read, I realize this is part of the author's craft based on old fashioned stories and fairy tales; it's actually quite funny! For example, I chuckled when Mrs. Willoughby was discussing her twins, "What are their names again? The ones who look alike? Why do they have to look so much alike? It's irritating." I mean, what mother doesn't remember her children's names? I look forward to reading the rest of this book and finding examples of dark humor.

My just right book is called ''Danny the champ of the world'' By Roald Dahl and illustrated by Quentin Blake.I like this book be Its easy to tell the fellings of the character. So whats happen so far is, about a boy who lived in a barn and his dad owns a gas station.the real thing that i enjoy about this book is to be happy with what you got.

In Finding Gobi by Dion Leonard I predict that Dion will keep Gobi after the race. The reason why I think that Dion will keep Gobi because he had a special bond with Gobi. For example, Dion says,"Not my problem. he was here for the race. that was it."The reason why I think he's going to keep Gobi is because he turned around to help Gobi even after he said Gobi wasn't his problem.

In the book, "The Egypt Game" by Zilpha Keatly Synder I am noticing that the Egypt game has been gradually adding members and I believe that it will stop at 6. I think it is six because I am two thirds into the book and there are four members. So by logical reasoning, they should end up with six.

In Number the Stars by Lois Lowry I picture the Nazi soldiers everywhere because the author does a good job of explaining where they are and what they are doing. For example, on page 2 the author said that there were two of them. That meant two helmets and two sets of cold eyes and four tall shiny boots. They held two rifles. They are at the corner of the street stopping people from going home past them.

In the book the land of stories by Chris Colfer, I predict that Alex and Conner will get in trouble because they are sneaking into a secret laboratory. Because Conner said "Now's a good time to sneak into the Zibling Mobile." Conner whispered to Alex.

At home I am reading the second book I Even Funnier by James Patterson. I am reading intensely by being so into my book, when my mom told me to go to lacrosse practice I got so mad. I am also reading intensely by making movies in my mind. For example, when a girl came to the table him and his friends usually sit at I imagined the screen on his face saying “keep calm, sweaty alert, girl alert, keep cool”.

While I'm reading this. book I'm feeling nervous for Ellen because I don't want them to find out she's Jewish.

I am reading the Sword of Summer, by Rick Riordan, the main character Magnus Chase is on an adventure to stop a evil magic wolf from escaping its bidding and eating the sun. There are also fire giants coming to kill him. I'm wondering if the valciries who are chasing him down as well will ether help Magnus Chase, or will kill him as well.

I am reading the book Ice Magic by Matt Christopher. I am noticing that Pie is starting to go over to the twin’s house. I think he will keep doing that to predict his upcoming games. Pie is a hockey player and his friends have a magical hockey mini rink and it predicts Pies up coming games. I recommend this book to you and especially if you play hockey.

In the book The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell I've noticed that Alex and Conner have been going in the wrong direction. they had to go through a calm and peaceful forest. In a matter a fact, the forest was to peaceful. A troll and A goblin caught them in a trap. the troll and the goblin took them to the troll and goblin territory. Alex and Conner saw all of the ugly trolls. Alex thought that the goblins were uglier. they caught themselves in the doungon underground. they found out that the traidsman was a prisoner to.

In the book Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, i'm wondering what will become of Jim. The former possessor of the treasure map just died from drinking to much rum, (an old fashion adult drink). Now with Jim's dad and the captain dead, no one in the inn would merrily sing in a horrible voice, "Fifteen men on the dead man's chest, Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum! Drink and the devil had done for the rest, Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!" But now jim has to run the inn all by himself because his father passed away. But there's an even bigger problem. There are bad men out looking for jim who now posses the map" Hopefully him and his mother will survive!

The book I SURVIVED The Destruction of Pompeii by Lauren Tarshis teaches me about how the city of Pompeii got covered in ashes. At first it seems scary. But in the begining, it seems a bit weird. Like when an old homeless lady says "When hope is lost, follow the hand of mercury." I'm scared to see what happens, but I can't wait to read the rest of this book.

I am reading The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies. This book is about a boy named Evan and his little sister Jessie. They are fighting and competing in a lemonade war. Jessie, the little sister wants to be friends again but Evan doesn't. I can make a connection to this because me and my sister have fought before. For example, we fought about picking a movie, fought about sharing a brush, and fought about what to play. When we were fighting about the hairbrush I wanted to be her friend again and she didn't. It resolved in the end when we decided to share the brush.
