This week, our focus is "Point of View." Point of View is the way the author tells the story. It's the "position of the narrator in relation to the story, as indicated by the narrator's outlook
from which the events are depicted and by the attitude toward the characters" (dictionary.com). For your assignment : 1.) Look at the book you are reading and determine its point of view (1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person). 2.) Be sure to include the title, author 3.) Use a QUOTE from the text to PROVE your answer. Example: The Willoughbys, by Lois Lowry, is told from the third person. I know this because the author uses pronouns such as "she, he, they," like the narrator is outside the story: "Nanny and the Willoughbys were outside for a walk. This was something old fashioned families did from time to time...Nanny had donned her blue cape, which was the official uniform for nannies" (p.95). If this text were in first person, it may instead say, "I was out for a walk..."

In the story Lost in Found it says as the second person's point of view. it said "Jay you did such a good with that prime factoring problem yesterday that I left the problem on the board to show to the afternoon class. come up front and work this one out for us." I know this is the second persons point of view because it says you.

I am reading The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder it is third person because it says "Laura is picking up a pail of water" The narrator says her name and that is a proper noun. So it is third person.

The book "Stuart Little" by E. B. White is third person limited. I know this because I read this particular line "Help! Let me out!" cried Stuart, who was frightened and bruised inside the rolled-up shade, and who could hardly breathe.

I am reading the book The hammer of Thor, by Rick Riordan. The book is in first and third person. I know this because of this quote. "Mabey they saw Otis as a passed-out homeless guy. I know how they can repel a crowd." This sentence uses words like I. But then, it also uses peoples names like Otis in this case. That's why I think this story is first and second person.

The book The Mysterious Benedict Society, by Trenton Lee Stewart, is in third person omniscient. I know this because it shows every characters thoughts and uses the characters names. An example from the book is on page 63 it says "She's awfully fond of leaving, isn't she? asked Kate. "I never saw anybody who left so much. I suppose she expects us to wait again?

The book Superfudge by Judy Blume is written in the first person point of view#POV because it is told by one of the characters in the story.I now this because on page 64 It said, “I tried counting sheep and reciting the alphabet backwards.”I also know that it is first person point of view because it said,“ My mother who had been reading the morning paper looked up.” The key words to a first person point of view is me, my, or I.

My book Bad Guys 7, by Aaron Blabey is a 1st person but different perspectives. I know this because it uses words like I, my, we, our and me. "I think I speak for all of us when I say- Listen up, Wolf! The world is ending and we need heroes! What we don't need is a bunch of stinky, lying." p. 6. If it was in third person it would be "She thinks she speaks for all of us when she says..." The story is told by Agent Fox, Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, Mr Piranha, and Legs.

In the book Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, it is first person because it uses words like me, he, she, and my. For example, "See here now Hawkins, said he, "here's a blessed hard thing on a man like me, now, ain't it?" It is being used from different people, but not with their own chapter, because this book was first published in 1883.

Continuation. . Dark. Cold. Where was the surface? I kicked in all derections, trying to find my way up. I twisted and turned, and then i saw it: a light. Dim, pale, and far away. Instincitively I shot for it, and quickly noticed that the water around me was growing brighter . That had to be the surface, the sun.

In my book, I SURVIVED True Stories by Lauren Tarshis, it is 3rd person limited. "For the first time in weeks, 7 year old Walter Alan didn't fell like he was going to freeze to death just by waking up."(pg.3) If this was first person, it would have been "Finally! It's warm again!"
